Need an expert on Serveta headsets to maybe skype w/them

Recommended Posts

Hey -

I know this sounds cheesy and all - but anyone have any time to skype this evening so I can give you several different veiws of my headset that just doesn't seem to sit correctly on the bike.  I have a 1/4" gap/space between the bottom of the headset and the legsheild top.  Maybe you can figure out what I have done incorrectly?

Thanks,

Erik

My jet doesnt sit perfect either and i have learned to settle with "close is good enough".

So do you have like 1/4-1/3" space in between?

The sticky's book states that i should barely be able to slide a piece of paper in between.  Then turn the headset - if it 'grabs' the paper at all then it is too close/tight.

Harley, post a picture. But I think it is right. The Servetas were odd like that.

I don't have a chrome ring fork, this thing was correct before I pulled it apart.

I do have the clamp on the bottom part of the headset.

From what I can see in the pics it looks like u installed the headset clamp on the bottom of the headset. It should be on top.

Remove headset bottom and install clamp on top. This should solve ur problem. Take a look at my jet200 overhaul on the 3 rd page of show us and u will see pics of my headset

...Make shure you have the bracket for the headset base installed properly. It goes inside the headset base not under it.

I know Corey - I had VDub give me a ring and walk me through it. I just couldn't picture what you meant.

I'm working on it now and will post my results.
